Overview

The 311 series of solid state drives is powered by Intel's Z68 Express Chipset. The SATA II drive can reach a maximum sequential read speed of 190 MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 100 MB/s. The 311 can also perform at 37,000 IOPS random read and 3,300 IOPS random write in a span of 8 GB. Latency time for read and write are 65 microseconds and 75 microseconds respectively.

Intel's 311 series is only available at one capacity and that is a 20 GB SLC SSD. The Mean Time Between Failure of the drive is 1,200,000 hours and the Uncorrectable Bit Error Rate is 1 sector per 10 to the sixth. The drive absorbs 85 mW of power when active and 75 mW of power when idle. The 311 can withstand a force of 1500 G and vibrations of 2.17 G.

Reviews

  • “Designed exclusively for use with the Z68 Express chipset, the Intel SSD 311 Series is well appointed for caching data and boosting application speed. But preparation—and laser-focused purpose—are required to make the most of it.”

  • “The Intel SSD 311 Series 20GB 'Larson Creek' drive proved itself to be a great cache drive. If you have an Intel Z68 platform that can run Intel Smart Response Technology it's worth looking into if you have a hard drive for the primary drive and don't want to splurge on an SSD and having to re-install your OS!”
