Just like its more expensive brother the Vertex 3, the Agility 3 is powered by a controller from SandForce SF-2200 series, which is the fastest 2.5-inch SSD processor currently on the market. The drive's performance, like its price point, is slightly lower than that of the Vertex 3, but the Agility 3 still offers 525MB/s maximum sequential read speeds over the SATA III 6GBps interface, compared to 550MB/s in the Vertex 3. Both SSD series come with native TRIM support and can be configured in RAID. Due to the reduced performance, the Agility 3 series also uses less power; 2.7W vs. 3W in the Vertex 3 series when active and 1.5W vs. 1.65W inactive.
The read speeds are consistent across the three available capacities - 60GB, 120GB and 240GB - while the sequential write speeds are slightly lower in the 60GB model; 475MB/s compared to 500MB/s in the two larger capacities. IOPS performance at 4K is also slightly worse in the smallest drive, but hardly enough to be noticeable--80,000 IOPS compared to 85,000 IOPS in the 120GB and 240GB capacities.
The Agility 3 series is covered by a 3-year warranty and are all rated at 2,000,000 hours mean time before failure (MTBF). Aside from the slight difference in certain performance aspects, there is little difference between OCZ's SF-2200 powered drives. The Vertex 3 is however not available in the smallest 60GB capacity.
