Overview
The Petrol Series was released by OCZ as an entry.level solid state drive. This drive is powered by Indilinx's Everest controller and is available in four capacities namely, 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. The maximum sequential read speed of Petrol is 360 MB/s while its maximum write speed is 135 MB/s. IOPS for this Asynchronous MLC drive is 30,000 at random 4k read. As expected, the 64 GB has lower performance numbers.
The Petrol SSD benefits Indilinx's Ndurance technology as well as a slew of other features including background garbage collection. Seek time takes 0.06ms for reading and 0.09ms for writing. Boot Time Reduction Optimization is present with AES and automatic encryption. The trio of RAID, SMART and TRIM is also supported by this solid state drive. The Mean Time Between Failure for the Petrol SSD is 1,250,000 hours with a warranty of three years.
