Overview
The M5Pro Xtreme is an updated version of Plextor's M5P series of solid state drives. There are a few differences between these two versions. The M5Pro Xtreme has maximum sequential write speeds of 330 MB/s, 460 MB/s, and 470 MB/s for the 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB models respectively while it's 340, 450 and 450 MB/s for the corresponding capacities of the M5P. The two higher capacities of the M5Pro Xtreme are also 6,000 IOPS higher than their M5P counterpart.
Inside the M5Pro Xtreme is Marvell's 88SS9187 controller. The drive supports TRIM, S.M.A.R.T and NCQ commands. Data encryption is also supported and Plextor allows firmware upgrades. The M5Pro Xtreme comes with 5 years warranty and a Mean Time Between Failure of 2,400,000 hours.
