InnoGrit IG5236

InnoGrit PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe 1.4 12nm FinFET 1 drive in database

The InnoGrit IG5236 (codename Rainier) is a PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe 1.4 SSD controller implemented in 12nm FinFET CMOS. It uses a quad-core ARM Cortex-R5 CPU and drives 8 NAND flash channels at up to 1,200 MT/s, supporting MLC, TLC, and QLC NAND via ONFI 4.1 and Toggle 2.0/3.0/4.0. External DDR (DDR3L, DDR4, LPDDR3, or LPDDR4) is required, with up to 8 GB supported in the IG5236 configuration. The controller's headline feature is InnoGrit's proprietary 4K-page LDPC ECC engine, which the company claims improves endurance and retention compared to conventional 512B LDPC implementations. Maximum rated performance is 7.4 GB/s sequential read, 6.4 GB/s sequential write, and 1,000K/800K random IOPS.

The IG5236 targets high-end client M.2 SSDs and ships in 575-ball 15×15mm FCBGA and 528-ball 14×14mm FCCSP packages. The companion IG5636 is the enterprise/data center variant of the same die, adding SR-IOV with up to 32 virtual functions, 32-namespace support, and U.2/AIC form factor qualification.
