The Marvell 88SS9189 is a SATA III SSD controller used in Crucial's MX100 and MX200 drives, released in 2014–2015. It is a successor to the 88SS9187 in Marvell's consumer SATA lineup, offering improved power efficiency and support for higher-density planar NAND.
The 88SS9189 is a DRAM-equipped 4-channel design. It was used in the MX100 as TLC NAND entered the consumer mainstream, and later in the MX200.
