Phison E21T

Phison PCIe 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.4 TSMC 12nm FinFET 2 drives in database

The Phison E21T (PS5021-E21T) is a budget single-core NVMe controller designed for DRAM-less QLC drives. It is notable for supporting both PCIe 3.0 x4 and PCIe 4.0 x4 — the same silicon is used in PCIe 3.0 drives like the Crucial P3 and PCIe 4.0 drives like the Crucial P3 Plus, operating at different link speeds.

The E21T uses 4 NAND channels and a DRAM-less design, relying on Host Memory Buffer (HMB) for address mapping. It is optimized for QLC NAND cost structures and targets the entry-level market. It succeeded the E13T as Phison's budget controller for QLC deployments.
