Samsung SATA III (6 Gb/s) 28nm (Samsung) 2 drives in database
MDX was Samsung's proprietary SATA controller used in the 840 Pro and 840 (non-Pro), released in 2012. The 840 Pro pairs MDX with Samsung's Toggle Mode 2.0 MLC NAND, delivering sequential reads of up to 540 MB/s and strong random I/O, making it one of the fastest SATA SSDs of its generation.
The 840 (non-Pro) uses the same MDX controller but with TLC NAND, making it one of the first consumer TLC-based drives. The MDX controller was a direct predecessor to the MEX used in the 840 EVO.
