SSD Controller
Samsung Presto
Samsung PCIe 5.0 x4, NVMe 2.0 8nm (Samsung) 1 drive in database
Samsung Presto is the in-house PCIe 5.0 x4 controller used in the 9100 Pro, released in 2025. It is an 8-channel design supporting NVMe 2.0 and was Samsung's first consumer PCIe 5.0 controller.
Paired with Samsung's 8th-generation V-NAND TLC (290-layer), the 9100 Pro reaches sequential read speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s. The Presto controller competes directly with Phison's E26 and Silicon Motion's SM2508 in the PCIe 5.0 segment. Like all PCIe 5.0 drives, the 9100 Pro requires a heatsink due to the thermal output at maximum throughput. It is nevertheless more power-efficient than the E26.
