SandForce SF-2241
The SandForce SF-2241 is a cost-reduced variant of the SF-2281, sharing the same second-generation SandForce architecture but with a reduced flash channel count. Where the SF-2281 supports 8 channels, the SF-2241 is a 4-channel controller, limiting maximum capacity and parallelism but allowing lower-cost drive designs. Like all SF-2-series controllers it is DRAM-less, relying on SandForce's DuraWrite compression technology to reduce write amplification and extend NAND endurance without an external cache chip.
The SF-2241 targets the value SATA III segment and appears primarily in OEM and embedded storage rather than retail consumer drives. Its architecture is otherwise identical to the SF-2281, including the RAISE redundancy scheme and hardware AES-256 encryption.
