Toshiba TC58NCP

Toshiba PCIe 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.2 1 drive in database

The Toshiba TC58NCP (full designation TC58NCP070GSB) is Toshiba's in-house PCIe 3.0 x4, NVMe SSD controller, used in the Toshiba OCZ RD400, one of Toshiba's first NVMe consumer drives following the OCZ acquisition. It is an 8-channel design paired with LPDDR3-1600 DRAM, matched exclusively with Toshiba's own 15nm MLC NAND. Rated performance on the RD400 reaches 2,600 MB/s sequential read, 1,600 MB/s sequential write, and up to 190,000/120,000 random IOPS.

Toshiba did not publicly disclose the TC58NCP's internal architecture. The controller reflects Toshiba's early vertical integration in NVMe, combining in-house controller and NAND, before the storage division was spun off as Kioxia.
