Talos R Series

The OCZ Talos R series of SSD are enterprise solutions with a form factor of 3.5" and utilizes the serial attached SCSI (SAS) interface. The Talos R is a 6 GB/s full duplex dual-port SSD that is cost-effective primarily because of its MLC-based design. It has a maximum read IOPS of 66,000 and a IOPS write of 35,000 at 4kB random operations. When at mixed workload (75% read, 25% write), the numbers are 50,000 IOPS and 34,000 IOPS for 4kB random and 8kB randome respectively.

The drive has a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 2,000,000 hours. In case of power failure, the drive utilizes DataWrite Assurance Technology which uses capacitance to provide a temporary power source. The SSD can recover up to one NAND Flash block per NAND controller of lost data. Error correction is up to 24 bits per 512 byte sector. SMART is also supported.

The Talos R series of SSD is available at capacities of 200 GB, 400 GB and 800 GB. The maximum sequential read is 540 MB/s and the maximum sequential write is 350 MB/s. The drive comes with a three year warranty.
