SandForce SF-2582

The SandForce SF-2582 is the enterprise tier of the second-generation SandForce family, positioned above the consumer-focused SF-2281. It shares the same 8-channel, DRAM-less architecture and DuraWrite compression technology but is validated for higher-endurance SLC and eMLC NAND, extended temperature ranges, and greater sustained write workloads. BCH ECC provides up to 55 bits of correction per 512-byte sector. Like all SF-2-series controllers it includes hardware AES-256 encryption, TCG Enterprise security, and RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements) single-drive data protection.

The SF-2682 is the SAS-capable variant of the same die, adding non-512B sector support (520, 524, 528, 4K+DIF) required for SAS environments; it was used in drives such as the OCZ Talos R Series. Both variants are housed in a 400-pin TFBGA 14×14mm package and support up to 512 GB with 16nm–30nm SLC/MLC/eMLC NAND at up to 166 MT/s.
