Silicon Motion SM2259XT2
The Silicon Motion SM2259XT2 is a DRAM-less SATA 6Gb/s controller, and the successor to the SM2259 XT line. Despite being a 2-channel design (half the channel count of the original SM2259XT), it maintains the same 16 total chip-enables by doubling CE per channel to 8, and achieves the same rated sequential throughput of 560 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write. The reduced channel count results in a more compact 144-ball TFBGA package at 8×8mm, suited to cost-sensitive and space-constrained designs.
Error correction uses Silicon Motion's NANDXtend® technology: a 1KB-codeword LDPC engine with hard and soft decoding, with embedded programmable RAID and SRAM ECC. The controller supports Direct-to-TLC and dynamic SLC caching for sustained write performance, and is compatible with ONFI 4.0 and Toggle 2.0 NAND at up to 800 MT/s per channel, covering both TLC and QLC flash.
